What is my skin type?
Honestly speaking, when I started to care for my skin and started looking into products, I did not know myself that our skins had their type or the fact that different skin types require different products and had a variety of ways in which they are needed to be taken care of. If you are reading this, it won’t be wrong to assume that you are FINALLY getting into the skincare universe SO WELCOME!
GUESS WHAT! Understanding your skin type is not rocket science and I pretty much guarantee you that today would be the day you are finally going to learn your skin and might even start bonding with it accordingly! YAAAAAYYYYYYY!! There’s some point you need to know the points that I am mentioning below…
- Dry or sensitive skin is likely to feel tight after you wash your face and may appear red and show wrinkles when the skin is pinched, whereas oily or combination skin often looks shinier and has larger pores and feels smooth.
2. Irrespective of what skincare routine you follow, you better always prioritize staying hydrated and drinking plenty of water. TRUST ME WHEN I SAY IT’S A CRUCIAL POINT. I am in my mid 20s and nothing ever worked as best as water did for me and it was the point when I started prioritizing drinking water and VOILA!!! All my skincare products started to work exactly the way they should always have!!!!!!!!
Don’t you worry bestieee! I AM SO UP TO LET YOU EXAMINE YOUR SKIN RIGHT NOW!!
Firstly wash you face well enough and wait for about an hour. Gently press a tissue on your T zone and examine the tissue to see if any oil has transferred onto it. If you notice oil on the tissue, you likely have oily or combination skin. Your T-zone encompasses your forehead and nose. This area is named the T-zone because the bridge of your nose creates the vertical line of the “T”, while the section of your forehead above your eyebrows forms the horizontal line of the “T”.
Next, you need to notice how your skin feels. If in case you have dry skin it is more likely that you will feel tight after cleansing, whereas oily skin will feel refreshed right after washing. For combination skin, your T-zone will feel clean but your cheeks will feel tight. Sensitive skin may react to certain cleansers, leading to redness, itching, or a rash.
If your skin becomes red, itchy, or develops a rash after using specific facial products, you likely have sensitive skin. Oily skin tends to become greasy again as the day progresses. If your skin doesn’t fit into these categories and you have no problem areas, you have normal skin, which is low maintenance. Congratulations! Pimples or acne can occur at any age, particularly if you have oily skin.
If you observe red, flaky areas scattered across your face, it’s likely you have dry and/or sensitive skin. Conversely, if your face appears shiny everywhere, you probably have oily skin. Experiencing both conditions indicates you have combination skin.
If your skin is normal, your pores will be noticeable but not prominent. Step back from the mirror. If your pores are still visible from a distance, you have oily skin. If your pores are not visible at all, your skin is dry. Combination skin is characterized by having different pore sizes on your face, leading to areas of dry, oily, and normal skin.
If your skin quickly forms wrinkles when pressed, it indicates that you have dry or combination skin. Conversely, oily skin will feel smooth to the touch.
If you’re unsure about your skin type, your dermatologist can help answer your questions. They can recommend over-the-counter medications and perform procedures to treat dry, oily, sensitive, combination, or acne-prone skin if other methods haven’t worked.
Today I am ending it here but don’t forget meh when it comes to some skin tok and don’t you dare to stress it out! Take it slow BBG!
SEEEEEE YAAAAAAA! TAKE CARE!!
