Ingredients that works the best for dry skin used in Korean skincare products

Dry skin can be a real hassle sometimes. That’s what I used to think in my early days when I didn’t know my skin type yet and whenever my skin went EXTREMELY DRY around my mouth. Through experiences and research, I’m all armed to help my besties out—WHICH IS YOU GUYS! Let’s look into what ingredients you should be seeking in your products to help deal with your dry skin!

To be more helpful, I will be naming my personal favorites so you guys can try them too! Always know that one product might not work the same for everyone, which is why I always suggest you EXPLORE! Let’s go!

Hyaluronic Acid: Hands down, this is my best friend for life as I am a combination skin type. This ingredient needs to be something you look for when it comes to either dry skin or even combination skin. Hyaluronic acid is a powerful humectant that can hold up to 1000X its weight in water! That’s some powerhouse of hydration! It basically attracts moisture from the environment into the skin, keeping it all plump, cute, and hydrated.

Products with hyaluronic acid: COSRX Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence, Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum

Ceramides: These are basically lipids and they are the besties that help you form your skin’s barrier and retain moisture, correcting all the roughness your pretty skin went through! They are real important stuff to maintain the skin’s hydration level and protect it from environmental damage.

Products with ceramides: Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream, Etude House SoonJung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream

Snail Mucin: This is one of the hot topics in 2024. It heals (helping to repair the skin barrier and reduce inflammation) faster than you can heal yourself after watching k-traumas (those who watch K-dramas). It is surely hydrating!

Products with snail mucin: COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence, Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence

Centella Asiatica (Cica): This is the soothing ingredient. It gives peace to your irritated skin and hydrates it internally. It is rich in amino acids, beta-carotene, and fatty acids.

Products with cica: Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Cream, Purito Centella Green Level Buffet Serum

Glycerin: Like hyaluronic acid, this is also a humectant that draws moisture into the skin and helps to maintain the skin’s hydration levels! It works to bring that GLOW and keep your skin soft and nice.

Products with glycerin: Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream, Nature Republic Super Aqua Max Combination Watery Cream

Propolis: Propolis is a resinous substance produced by bees that has anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties. This is an extremely soothing and hydrating element and trust me, YOU CANNOT GO WRONG WITH ITS PRESENCE! It makes your skin a lot more resilient!

Products: COSRX Propolis Light Ampoule, iUNIK Propolis Vitamin Synergy Serum

Shea Butter: I bet that’s a popular name right there. Shea butter is a rich emollient that deeply moisturizes the skin as it is packed with vitamins and fatty acids that nourish and hydrate the skin!

Products with shea butter: Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream, The Face Shop Mango Seed Moisturizing Butter

Squalane: Here’s another natural bestie for our skin. Squalane is a natural moisturizer that mimics the skin’s natural oils. It has the plus point that it is lightweight, non-greasy, and highly effective at providing long-lasting hydration!

Products with squalane: Biossance Squalane + Omega Repair Cream, The Ordinary 100% Plant-Derived Squalane

Aloe Vera: When it comes to aloe vera, you can use it in a lot of ways even when it’s raw. It is famous for its soothing and hydrating properties. It helps to calm irritated skin and provides a layer of moisture that is beneficial for dry skin.

Products: Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel, Nature Republic Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel (These are the two gels I have highly used until now. If not them, go for the RAW! They are the best!)

Argan Oil: It is another powerhouse of moisture! Argan oil is rich in essential fatty acids and vitamin E, making it an excellent moisturizer for dry skin. It helps to restore the skin’s barrier and lock in moisture.

Products with argan oil: Innisfree The Green Tea Seed Oil, Missha Time Revolution Night Repair Probio Ampoule

These ingredients are commonly found in various Korean skincare products designed to combat dryness and provide long-lasting hydration. Incorporating products with these ingredients into your skincare routine can significantly improve the moisture levels and overall health of your skin.

REMEMBER:
It’s your experiments and trials that help you finally know your type of skincare! KEEP MOVING BESTIES!
